Art to Go
“Art to Go” is the Newark Arts Alliance’s community outreach program. Through “Art to Go,” we bring art projects out to the public, often to under-served populations.
Here are some recent “Art to Go” activities:
Clay Workshops at the Delaware School for the Deaf
In the 2015-2016 school year, the NAA is bringing two 8-week clay workshops to the Delaware School for the Deaf, one in fall and one in spring. These workshops are led by two professional clay artists, Mary Loewenstein-Anderson and Annie Smith. One workshop is for elementary-age students, and the other is for middle- and high-school age students. For both age groups, there will 4-5 projects, involving pinch pot, slab work, and finally hand-building.
Art Projects at Family Promise Shelter
The NAA is bringing monthly art projects to children whose families have been displaced. Recent projects have been led by arts educators Terry Foreman and Rebecca Wissehr Howell.
