Join us for an evening filled with food, fashion, and more than a few surprises! You’ll enjoy a delicious dinner and delightful conversation—then get ready for our fun and funky wearable-art fashion show and competition. And you’ll be a part of choosing the winners!

Entrants will show off their creativity and sense of style by producing original, wearable pieces of runway art. Each outfit will be modeled on our own Imagination Runway and winners will be determined by judges from the UD Resident Ensemble Players and the popular vote of attendees.

Online ticket sales and Sponsorship Opportunities will be posted soon. All proceeds support the Newark Arts Alliance and its many free programs, exhibitions, and activities.

Entries are open–submit yours today!
Entries are now being accepted from local artists for our evening’s featured event—a Wearable Runway Art Competition! We’re looking for original, wearable art pieces that showcase your creativity, originality, spirit, class, and style. Harvest Arts Festival

Location:  Academy Building Lawn, at the corner of Main and Academy Streets in downtown Newark

Twenty local artists will have fine art and crafts for sale at this free event. Now in its 9th year, the Harvest Arts Festival is a celebration of the arts that coincides with the University of Delaware’s Parents & Family Weekend. We’ll also have live music and art projects for all ages. See you there!

Weather Notice: If heavy rains are anticipated, this event will be canceled. There is no rain date.

Garden Tour Workshops 2017

The Newark Arts Alliance is pleased to present two garden-related workshops this spring!

Mosaic Stepping Stone Workshop

Dates: Saturday, May 20 10am – 2:30pm & Sunday, May 21 12 – 2pm (Rain dates: May 27 & 28)
Location: Dragonfly Art Studios, Newark DE
Ages: 14 and up. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Cost: $85 – includes instruction and all materials to make two stepping stones
Instructor: Dragonfly Leathrum
Registration: Contact the instructor to sign up for this workshop

Make two mosaic stepping stones for your garden using pottery, tiles and glass. Create your tiles on Saturday and apply grouting on Sunday. All materials are included but participants are welcome to bring special pieces of broken pottery if you wish. Coffee and Bings Bakery goodies provided. A portion of the proceeds go to support the Newark Arts Alliance.

Newark Garden Tour 2017

The NAA will open at 9:30 a.m. the morning of the tour for day-of ticket sales and to hand out maps for those with paid reservations.

Enjoy a self-guided tour of 11 Newark-area gardens and experience how art and creativity can shape landscapes in both small and large spaces!

The Newark Garden Tour presents ideas and solutions on how an individual can create a stunning garden without a big budget or a professional staff, and instead rely on DIY techniques. The tour will include artists painting and sketching in several gardens, as well as musical performances, Master Gardeners answering your questions, and more!

Prepaid reservations are now available!
Call the Newark Arts Alliance at 302-266-7266 to make your reservation (credit cards accepted). Or stop in for a visit and save your spot in person (cash, check, or credit cards accepted). Reservations can also be made at Alexander’s Lawn & Garden, 800 Ogletown Road, Newark, DE 19711 (cash or check only at Alexander’s). We will keep a list of all prepaid reservations.

Once you’re signed up, all you need to do is stop in at the Newark Arts Alliance on the day of the tour to pick up your map. We’ll open early at 9:30am!
