"BIG changes for the NAA!

• NAA to relocate to Market East Plaza in January
• Susan Logan resigns as Administrative Director
• Terry Foreman hired as Executive Director

The NAA’s Board of Directors has made the decision to relocate the organization to Market East Plaza, off Main Street in January.
The NAA invested more than $65,000 in cash at the Grainery Station site – not counting the sweat equity and contractor discounts. The understanding was that we would have at least five years there, with options to remain until 2013.

After barely three years, the new property owner, Jeff Lang of Lang Development Group, announced plans to tear down the structure and build a new retail/residential complex in its place. There would be a spot for the NAA there, at a higher rent and not equal to our present layout. In the meantime, the organization could relocate to another Lang-owned property.

For a variety of reasons, none of these plans suited the NAA’s needs.

As compensation for breaking the lease and to recoup a portion of its investment, the NAA requested $30,000 from the property owner. The organization cannot afford to simply walk away; we must be able to finance the move and the start-up costs. A counter-offer of $20,000 has been agreed upon.
The NAA’s new address will be 276 East Main Street, Suite 102.

Leadership change
After nearly six years as the NAA’s Administrative Director, linchpin, and woman of all work, Susan Logan has resigned her position to take a newly created job with the Center for the Creative Arts in Yorklyn, DE.

Hers was one of two paid positions with the NAA. The other, Program Director, has been held by Terry Foreman, who has accepted the position of NAA Executive Director. Logan’s last day was September 28, and she was honored for the dedication and skills she brought to the NAA at the Global Wining wine tasting that evening.

The NAA Board of Directors said, “We would like to give a huge thanks to Susan Logan. Susan’s tasks have run the gamut from graphic design to record keeping to volunteer management to changing light bulbs, and everyone recalls the huge role she played in our move from Delaware Avenue to Elkton Road. Susan has been a huge asset to the organization, and fortunately she plans to stay involved in NAA activities. We wish Susan the best in her new position.”

At the CCA, Logan will he will be in charge of membership and special events, and will be responsible for creating an art-focused gift shop.

Foreman has been involved with the NAA since its inception in 1993. She has taken on a variety of positions, including a prior stint in the administrative job. As Program Director and grant writer, she supervised art classes, created Art To Go, and brought in funding to support the organization.
