A sweet time was had by all!

Photo of woman looking at woven item“Sweets for Your Sweetie,” our Valentine season dessert and wine tasting, brought out a crowd of about 70, many of them newcomers to the NAA. They feasted on six different cakes and pies, tuxedo strawberries, cookies, and pastries from Just Desserts Café, and sipped two wines and a champagne selected by State Line Liquors.

Two members of the Newark Symphony Orchestra – Jennifer Hugh, bassoon, and Sally Cornell, oboe – provided music for the event. The silent auction featured items tied into the theme, including a life-size champagne bottle made of Belgian chocolate, Valentine pins, and a crystal bud vase. A basket of gift certificates was also raffled.

Donors to the auction and basket were: Caffé Gelato, Main Street Florist,  Iron Hill Brewery, Klondike Kate's, Newark Natural Foods, Bubz T'Licious, Cameras Etc., Chapel Street Players, Village Imports, Home Grown Café, Trader Joe's, Melissa Cox, Laura Way, Terry Foreman, and Susan Logan.

When the finances were tallied up, that was a sweet surprise, too – the event raised more than $1,350 after expenses.

This was the third in a series of events designed to bring people together at the NAA for a combination of beverages, food, music, and socializing. We previously held a wine tasting and a beer tasting. Next up is "Sunglasses at Night,” featuring California wines. Pick out your shades and watch for an April date!
