Volunteers
The NAA runs on volunteer power!
It takes lots of willing hands to keep the NAA and all its activities running. And you don’t have to be an artist to get involved. Here are just a few of the ways you can be part of “developing community through the arts” with the NAA. See something that interests you? Get in touch with Terry Foreman, Executive Director, at 302-266-7266 to get the details.
• Monitors – These are the folks who keep our doors open on a day-to-day basis. You’ll greet visitors, tell them a little bit about the NAA, and hand them a newsletter. Answer the phone. Make sales in the Gallery Shop. Do a little light cleaning and help with office work. The NAA is a great place to spend four hours, and this is a great way to support the arts in the area.
• NAA art projects for kids – Newark holds several community events each year, and at the NAA table you’ll find hands-on art projects for youngsters and information about upcoming events and classes. If you’re a real people person and like to get involved, this is the job for you.
• NAA committees – Our Exhibition Gallery Committee plans and carries out our series of shows each year, making use of a variety of skills. The Gallery Shop Committee handles all aspects of operating our shop, from selecting and displaying the work to keeping inventory.
• College internships – We have opportunities each year for college students to volunteer with the NAA and get experience in many areas of the arts, from grant writing and marketing to teaching classes and running a gift shop.
