SUMMARY:Call for Proposals! Solo or Group Show in 2026
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””] \nMark your calendars! Accepting applications August 1st\, 2025 – October 1st\, 2025. Please do not send any before then. \nDo you have a body of work that would fill a space and has a consistent theme? The Gallery committee is seeking proposals for the 2026 exhibition schedule.  \nIndividuals or groups of artists may submit a proposal for a show in the main gallery some time in 2026. Groups of artists should have artwork with a similar theme to create a cohesive show.  \nStrong proposals will have a well thought out theme that is consistent for the body of work and not a sampling of many styles and mediums that an artist has created. At least 10 high quality images are also required for the proposal so the committee can get a clear idea of the quality of the work.  \nAn application fee of $15 for NAA members and $25 for non-members is required for submission\, payment mailed in or brought to NAA. If your exhibit is scheduled\, an additional fee of $85 is required by Dec.1\, 2025.  \nDeadline to submit proposals is October 1\, 2025\, Artists will be notified via email by November 1\, 2025. DESCRIPTION:By The Book Art Exhibit \nJuror: Bill Buck \nSubmissions \nFriday August 15th from 12:30pm-7:30pm \nand Saturday August 16th  from 12:30-3:45pm. \nArtwork that is inspired by a novel\, all media\, 2D & 3D works \nPlease follow these guidelines: \n\nInspiration Form/Artist Statement* (see below) must be attached to each entry and will be hung with the artwork if selected by the Juror.\nSubmissions up to 3 per artist\nSize no larger than 36″ on its longest size for 2D wall art \nAll work must be wired for hanging on gallery cable/hook system\n18 inches diameter for 3D sculpture or crafts\, unless freestanding without pedestal.\n\nOpens August 19th and runs through September 20th. \nReception is September 12th from 6-8pm. \n*Please download the form here: Artist Statement By The Book Art Exhibit

SUMMARY:Velo Love Film Screening and Artist's Talk
DESCRIPTION:The Newark Arts Alliance (NAA) is excited to welcome artist and filmmaker Nancy Breslin for a special evening exploring the artistry behind stop motion animation. On August 16th at 6:00 PM\, Breslin will share insights into her creative process and present a screening of her acclaimed short animated film\, Velo Love. The event will be followed by a reception\, allowing attendees to engage with the artist and discuss her work. \nNancy Breslin served as both the screenwriter and executive producer of Velo Love\, co-produced with her brother and based on a story idea by her daughter. The 11-minute animated film\, directed by Carlos Cruz and Sam Mendez\, tells the whimsical story of two bicycles that fall in love. The animation was crafted by Hobby Creative Studios in Guadalajara. Velo Love has been part of 14 film festivals and has won awards for its animation\, imagination\, and music.  A short movie trailer can be watched at https://vimeo.com/931248951. \nBreslin has received additional recognition for her screenwriting. Her feature script\, The Bounty Hunters\, won the National Lampoon Girlz Rule contest and is currently on the development slate at MediaFusion Entertainment.  \nNancy Breslin is a lifetime member of the NAA and has long contributed to the organization’s mission\, serving at times on both its Gallery Committee and Board of Directors during her 15 years in Newark\, Delaware. Additionally\, she holds an MFA from the University of Delaware and is known for her pinhole camera photography.  Now based in Washington\, DC\, she remains deeply connected to the creative community. \nThis event is free and open to the public\, welcoming art lovers\, filmmakers\, and anyone curious about stop motion animation to enjoy an enriching evening. The Newark Arts Alliance\, a beloved local arts group\, fosters creativity through exhibits\, a shop featuring art by members\, classes\, and a summer camp. The NAA is delighted to host Breslin and celebrate her artistic journey.
