Strategic Plan 2025-2030, Executive Summary

 

This strategic plan outlines the vision, goals, and direction for The Newark Arts Alliance as we build upon our current strengths and chart a path for continued growth and sustainability. We enter this planning period from a position of organizational stability and momentum, bolstered by enthusiastic new staff, a solid financial foundation, and the successful relocation to our beautiful new space. Our vibrant community hub primarily supports visual arts while actively seeking to amplify the work of all local artists, including beginners.

 

We recognize that the majority of our constituents are older adults, which presents both opportunities and challenges as we strive to broaden our reach and foster a multigenerational community. Guided by the needs of our stakeholders, we remain committed to creating inclusive, accessible programming and spaces that reflect the diversity of the Newark area.

 

The underpinnings of this plan are the beliefs that building capacity for growth, taking long-term sustainability seriously (with regards to finances, staffing and volunteer leadership), and building solidarity with other arts organizations are the best approaches to ensuring resilience as we navigate the ever-changing landscape of public funding for the arts.

 

With these beliefs in mind, we have landed on the following “pillars” of strategy:

 

    1. Bolster our operational structure and sustainably build our operational capacity.
    2. Increase and deepen participation with current stakeholders, members and our existing audience in the Newark community.
    3. Increase engagement with diverse audiences by building mutually-beneficial collaborations and relationships with other organizations or entities in the Newark area.

A Living, Breathing Roadmap

 

This strategic plan is not meant to sit on a shelf gathering dust. It is a living document—one that thrives when approached with curiosity, play, and experimentation. Every direction, action step, deadline and deliverable is open to adjustment, evolution, and improvement. We encourage all stakeholders to use this plan as a working guide, allowing it to grow and shift alongside us as we strive to create the best possible arts experiences and opportunities for our community. By staying agile and engaged with this document and our developing strategy, we will keep our work relevant, responsive, and impactful.

 

Together, these goals will guide our work over the coming years, ensuring the Newark Arts Alliance remains a vital and dynamic part of the local arts ecosystem.
