About NAA Exhibits

The Newark Arts Alliance displays work by area artists in monthly exhibits year-round in our Exhibition Gallery.

Exhibits are a mix of themed shows, which are open to submissions by all, and solo/group shows. We encourage community members to submit works of art to our themed exhibitions.

Membership is not required and we invite anyone living in a 25 mile radius of Newark, DE. Artists under 18 must have a parent, guardian, or teacher sign their submission form.

VIEW OUR LIST OF NEW SHOWS FOR 2025! These will be at our new space at 401 Louviers Dr., Newark, DE 19711 located in the Shoppes at Louviers.

Calling All Artists For Solo/Group Shows In 2026 (Deadline: Oct 1, 2025)

CALL FOR SOLO OR GROUP SHOWS FOR 2026

Applications for a solo or group show for 2026 will be accepted from August 1 to October 1, 2025. Please do not send any before then.

Please watch for guidelines to be announced here. Deadline is October 1, 2025 for shows in 2026.

Do you have a body of work that would fill a space and has a consistent theme? The Gallery committee will be seeking proposals for the 2026 exhibition schedule.

Individuals or groups of artists may submit a proposal for a show in the main gallery some time in 2026. Groups of artists should have work with a similar theme to create a cohesive show.

Strong proposals will have a well thought out theme that is consistent for the body of work and not a sampling of many styles and mediums that an artist has created. Good quality images are also an important part of the proposal so the committee can get a clear idea of the quality of the work.

An application fee of $15 for NAA members and $25 for non-members is required for submission. If accepted, an additional fee of $85 is required.

Deadline to submit proposals is October 1, 2025, Artists will be notified by November 1, 2025.

The Exhibition Gallery Committee

The Newark Arts Alliance’s Exhibition Gallery is coordinated by our Exhibition Gallery Committee.  This Committee is comprised of an NAA Board Member and volunteers from our community.

The Exhibition Gallery Committee chooses artists from our community to jury the themed exhibitions and it varies from show to show. You may contact the Exhibition Gallery Committee by sending an email to gallery@newarkartsalliance.org

Please note: Due to the volume of submissions and space considerations, even excellent work is sometimes not accepted. The Committee will not respond to queries on why individual works were not accepted by the jurors, nor why individual solo show applications were not chosen for display.

Jury Criteria:

For our 2025 annual Member’s Show, no piece may exceed 36″ x 36″.

Originality (no kits or copies); well-crafted, skillful execution; and professional presentation. Hanging work must have a picture wire securely fastened with hardware to the back of the frame. Central hanging devices (e.g. rings and saw-tooth hangers) do not work with the NAA’s hanging system – this is a requirement! Please see below for a visual example.

Matts and glass on 2-D work should be clean and neat. Frames should be in good condition and not show signs of wear. Unframed paintings on stretched canvas are acceptable if neatly painted on the edges.

All work should be clearly identified with the following:

  1. Artist’s name
  2. Title of work
  3. Medium
  4. Price or NFS (not for sale)

Work can only be juried by having the actual work on site and not by digital images.

Artist Terms:
Artists earn a commission on sold work based on the following criteria:
Working NAA members: 80% to the artist
Non-Working NAA members: 70% to the artist
Non-NAA Members: 60% to the artist

Artists will be paid by the end of the month following the month in which the work sold. Checks are mailed.

Working members must work a minimum of 3 hrs. or more for the month preceding the month the work sold.

Exhibition Forms:
We ask that you add identification on the back of each artwork being submitted. You can use our form for this purpose.

You can download it here: ARTIST ID TAGS

Artwork Hanging Requirements

Image showing the back of a canvas painting with wiring hardware installed for hanging

You must submit artwork with proper hanging hardware already installed – this means a hanging wire.

This is one example using D-rings and a coated wire.

You can also have D-rings with uncoated wire.

You can have eye-screws with wire as well.

NO cleats, NO saw tooth hangers. We use a cable hanging system that does not work with cleats or saw tooth hangers.

Also please do NOT tape your wire. You must properly wrap the wire so that it is secure. We have had pieces literally fall off the wall because the wire was not wrapped.
