The Newark Garden Tour returns this May in partnership with the Countryside Garden Club, united by this year’s theme:
Garden Harmonies
This year, we’re venturing into the beautiful Hockessin area—an exciting expansion where thoughtfully designed gardens showcase harmonious blends of color, texture, and natural rhythm—while still keeping every stop within a convenient 15-minute drive of the Newark Arts Alliance. Come explore this vibrant landscape, where each garden offers its own unique composition of beauty, balance, and adaptation.

Eco-Printing Workshop Taught by Maria Campos Vera
Starting at 12:30-2pm May 16th (rain date May 17th)

Join us for a crafty outdoor eco-printing workshop during the Newark Garden Tour, led by Maria Campos Vera from Vera Studio.
***PLEASE NOTE:*** this workshop will NOT be held at the Newark Arts Alliance, but at one of the gardens on the tour. Exact location will be shared with you after you register.
During this workshop, you’ll transform beautiful ruffled cotton totes into stunning works of art using fresh spring blooms and natural materials.
Skills You’ll Learn:
– Identify the best flowers, leaves, and plant materials for eco-printing
– Learn which spring blooms produce the most vibrant and lasting impressions
– Understand how different plant materials create unique colors and patterns
– Discover the science behind natural dye transfer from plants to fabric
– Eco-printing design and composition
– Hands-on printing techniques
– Learn proper-washing and care instruction for eco-printed textiles
This workshop offers a perfect blend of artistry, sustainability, and connection with nature. You’ll leave with not only a beautiful, one-of-a-kind tote bag but also the knowledge and confidence to continue eco-printing at home using materials from your own garden or local environment.
All materials and tools will be provided. Please wear clothes suitable for outdoor crafting!
The Newark Arts Alliance will retain a $5 cancellation fee if a student withdraws from a class.
Maria’s passion for horticulture and floral artistry began ten years ago. What started as a gardening hobby soon flourished into a fulfilling career and a way to share joy with others. Today, Maria owns a local floral studio known for wedding/event florals, bouquets, and preserved décor. Her artistic flair and dedication to quality attract clients seeking unique floral designs.

Plant Swap May 23rd, 2026
Plant Swap Schedule for May 23rd, 2026
1pm–1:45pm: Plant Drop-Off
If you have plants to donate to the exchange, drop them off during this time and you’ll get a voucher for each plant
you donate. To get vouchers, you must drop plants off by 1:45pm. You’re welcome to stick around until the plant swap
begins.
2pm–2:30: Indoor Plants
The swap will begin promptly at 2pm, and we’ll select plants in rounds. Everyone who donated plants gets to use their
vouchers to ‘purchase’ plants donated by other neighbors. Each voucher gets you a plant. Please bring a box and/or
wagon to transport your treasures home.
2:45-3:45: Outdoor Plants

4:00-ish: Free Plants
We often have unclaimed plants at the end of the exchange, so if you didn’t have anything to donate, but you want
free plants — swing by and help yourself.
